Job Title: Program Leader

Department: Extended Learning & Community Schools, Denver Public Schools

Location: KAISER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

FTE: Part-time, 2023-2024 school year

Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30pm-6:00pm

Hourly Rate: $20.50/hr with qualifications

Essential Functions and Objectives:

To provide a safe and learning environment for children, nurture a positive work environment that is conducive to students and their optimal growth and development.

Commitment includes:

- Maintain and facilitate open communication with parents, staff and students

- Follow staff conduct guidelines outlined in the staff handbook

- Perform facility maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned and needed

- Follow the general daily schedule for the program

- Implement high quality programs where students are engaged in a variety of ways

- Initiate personal contact with all families and foster a positive environment for the children and refer questions and concerns to the Program Supervisor when needed and appropriate

- Use positive youth development strategies

- Create and implement curriculum and activities for children in an enriching, engaging and enjoyable manner

- Directly supervise and provide group management for elementary age students, supervise in play areas to ensure children’s safety

- Interpret the philosophy of Denver Public Schools and build community with faculty, staff, parents, visitors and the community

- Ensure that Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care, District and Department policies and procedures are followed

- Maintain appropriate records and logs and provide accurate and timely information on program operations as requested

- Work with team members to create a harmonious and efficient working environment

- Attend required Department orientations, trainings and staff meetings

- Maintain licensing ratio for staff to child

- Maintain a punctual, reliable schedule during program hours.

- Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- Must have at least three (3) months (or 460 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable work experience with school-age children

- Must be able to become First Aid, CPR and Standard Precautions certified

- Must be 18 years of age or older

Education Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Licensed child care or program center: 1 year (Preferred)
