Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Summer Youth Ministry Interns collaborate with the Youth Pastor to pursue the vision and mission of
3CYouth by establishing and developing relationships with students (and their families) and completing
objectives assigned by ministry leadership. This position reports to the Youth Pastor and is a ten-week,
administrative-level position. Each intern receives a $4,000 stipend for the summer (divided and paid bi-weekly). The internship is designed to provide a broad experience of Youth Ministry, help reveal and
develop skills pertinent to ministry, and clarify one's personal calling to ministry.
Note: The 2024 internship dates are May 30 - August 7.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Department Leadership & Program Development:
    • Pursue and develop shepherding relationships with students, families, and volunteers.
    • Plan and implement an eight-week small group gathering with a spiritual growth subject matter that correlates with one's personal gifting and interest.
    • Collaborate with youth pastors to plan and facilitate weekly gatherings.
    • Attend and exercise leadership at summer camp and summer outreach experience.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with other departments as assigned for comprehensive internship experiences.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Youth Pastor.
  • Work Schedule & Meetings:
    • Establish and maintain regular, weekly office hours.
    • Attend any required staff meetings (i.e.: Devos & Prayer, Staff Luncheons, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Character:
    • A Christ honoring life marked by personal holiness, prayer, Bible study, spiritual and emotional maturity and increasing dependence on the Holy Spirit (Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7).
    • Unquestionable integrity specifically in areas of handling finances, relationships and time management.
    • A person who understands and models the Christian principle of servant-leadership. Someone who is eager, flexible, and has a teachable spirit.
  • Competency:
    • Must be a high-school graduate, preferably college age student; preference given to those considering a career in ministry.
    • Basic organizational and time management skills and forward thinking in terms of prioritizing, planning and scheduling work responsibilities.
    • Exemplifies sound discretion and confidentiality in decision making and interpersonal interactions.
    • Effectively communicates with and relates to people of all ages.
    • Comfortable in interdenominational and multicultural settings.
    • Takes personal initiative in learning.
    • Familiarity with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, etc).
    • Willing to learn and effectively utilize the church database system.
  • Convictions:
    • In full agreement with and champions Colorado Community's Statement of Faith and Who We Are.
    • Supportive of the structure and leadership of Colorado Community Church (i.e.: Christ centered, Board governed, Staff led, Congregation Mobilized).
    • Passionate about seeing others succeed.
    • Strives for excellence in all work duties.

  • Internship positions offer learning and educational opportunities by participating in the actual ministries and operations of Colorado Community Church to further advance the Kingdom of God for the glory of Jesus.
  • These educational experiences are primarily for the benefit of the intern.
  • Colorado Community Church understands that we may not receive an immediate benefit from the educational activities and work of the intern.
  • Internships do NOT entitle interns to employment with Colorado Community Church at the end of the internship.
  • While this internship offers a stipend, the intern and Colorado Community Church understand that minimum wage and overtime wage laws do NOT apply to the time spent in the internship.
  • Interns must be 18 years of age or older.
