SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Using the Transition To Success model will provide support and conducts activities that emphasize ending the cycle of poverty and making good choices for youth and parents. Services and activities include job readiness, financial literacy, career exploration, career counseling, mentoring, case management, and summer youth and young adults' employment.
- Provides guidance and coaching in a variety of subject matters to youth ages 6-23 of age and their parents.
- Participates in implementing a trauma-informed approach to services that promotes relationship building, pro-social behaviors, cooperative learning, self-help skills, academic achievement, employment, and strengthening daily living skills within an academic environment.
- Assists young and their parents in identifying personal barriers to independence through collaborative assessment of their life skills, employment skills, and personal development needs, and assist families with developing attainable short and long-term goals for skills development, strategies for meeting these goals, and an action plan for implementation.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- High school, plus additional courses or specialized job skills training, financial management, and life skills development for youth adults. Requires education to understand and follow the standard practice or oral and written instructions, read and write, use simple arithmetic, and keep records. Knowledge of Office 365, video conferencing, and basic computers and office equipment such as a photocopier, fax, and scanner will be required.
EXPERIENCE
- Over six months, up to and including one year.
- Experience in stable employment, group dynamics and family living preferred.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver's abstract.
- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, First Aid, AED classes.
