Job description

Youth Employment Services

The Youth Employment Services Program assist youth with opportunities for employment, education, and training, and related services needed to succeed in the workforce. These services are provided under Public Law 102-477.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must apply to Youth Employment Services at https://chahtaachvffa.choctawnation.com/ and complete an application for Youth Employment Services prior to being approved to work the Choctaw Nation Youth Employment Services Program.

Additional Information

  • Participants must be ages 16 to 21 on or before first day of work.
  • Participants are permitted to work for up to five weeks.
  • Participants are provided with basic work skills and good work habits necessary to enter the job market.
  • Placement with employing agencies such as businesses and organizations, both public and non-profit.
  • Employment training provided based on the participant and service area needed.
  • Workers compensation insurance is provided.
  • If required, background and drug screening is paid by the employer.
  • Benefits for Summer Youth Participants- You will receive 2 paid holidays - Memorial Day and Independence Day

Public Law 102-477 is the Indian Employment, Training, and Related Services Demonstration Act of 1992, as amended by Public Law 106-568, the Omnibus Indian Advancement Act of 2000. Public Law 102-477 is unique among Federal legislation, in that it allows Federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Native entities to combine formula-funded Federal grants funds, which are employment and training-related into a single plan with a single budget and a single reporting system.
