Job Description Summary: We seek a passionate and dedicated Youth Employment Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in recruiting, counseling, and supporting youth aged 16-24 from marginalized communities in the Greater Sacramento region for participation in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth program. Your primary responsibility will be assisting youth in obtaining educational credentials and providing comprehensive support to facilitate their transition into full-time employment. Responsibilities:
Outreach & Recruitment:
- Conduct proactive outreach activities to engage eligible youth from marginalized communities.
- Establish relationships with community organizations and educational institutions to facilitate recruitment efforts.
- Deliver presentations to promote program services and opportunities.
Case Management & Eligibility Determination:
- Provide comprehensive case management services to guide participants through the enrollment process.
- Determine eligibility based on program criteria and assist with documentation.
- Develop and evaluate Individual Service Strategies tailored to participant needs.
Career Counseling & Planning:
- Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions to assess interests and goals.
- Assist in developing personalized career plans and educational goals.
- Facilitate workshops on job search strategies and interview preparation.
Monitoring & Data Management:
- Monitor participant progress to ensure compliance with program objectives.
- Maintain accurate participant records and case notes.
- Analyze and report data on program effectiveness.
Community Engagement & Public Relations:
- Cultivate positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborate to address barriers to employment and access additional resources.
- Represent the program at community events and meetings.
Administrative and Communication Skills:
- Contribute to Case Review Team meetings to coordinate services.
- Conduct interviews with professionalism and empathy.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address participant challenges.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of workforce development principles and practices.
- Familiarity with employment-related programs and initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in case management software.
- Ability to work collaboratively and travel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant paid work experience required.
- Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
- Experience working with marginalized communities preferred.
- Workforce Investment Opportunity Act experience preferred.
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status or applicable medical exemption.
Work Conditions:
- Full-time position based in an office environment.
- Occasional travel is required for events and meetings.
- Flexible schedule with evening or weekend hours as needed.
- Prolonged sitting and computer work may be required.
