Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Community Health and working closely and supervising the other Youth Development worker, the overall responsibility of this position is to plan, prepare, and implement a variety of curriculums, preventive workshops, college preparation workshops, jobs internships internally/externally, and job-related workshops for the afterschool and summer jobs program. The Youth Development Supervisor is also responsible for working with afterschool program partners, maintaining proper data for documentation, and grant reports.

Reportability

This position will report directly to the Director of Community Health. This position will manage/supervise all other Youth Development worker staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Plans, prepares, and implements a variety of programs that may include after school curricula, preventive workshops, college preparation workshops, parent’s orientation and workshops, recreational trips, summer jobs internships, and summer jobs workshops.
  • Serves on advocacy groups, and advisory boards.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with teachers, school administration, staff, etc.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with grantors and their teams.
  • Represents program/MC in various community events as needed.
  • Recruits youth for the program.
  • Prepares materials for planned activities, including planning and organizing special events.
  • Maintains proper data for documentation, evaluation, and program purposes. These include an intake, records of participants, documentation of all activities and outcomes of said activities and other documentation as identified.
  • Provides crisis intervention and conflict mediation.
  • Develops positive relationships with youth and families.
  • Provides one-on-one support / college guidance to participants as needed.
  • Be present at required staff meetings including team, all staff, trainings, retreats, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Supervises all other Youth Development worker staff by providing supervision, guidance and assigning tasks.
  • Assists with grant proposals and keeps up to date with deadlines for grant reports, as well as writes narrative of workshops and general data on grant quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities –

  • Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with youth and family programming in non-profit organizations, NGO or related environment preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish or Amharic.
  • Must have knowledge of computer literacy, word processing, and data management.
  • A thorough understanding and working knowledge of patient/client confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations is essential.

Language Requirements – Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish or English and Amharic as used by participants.

Physical Demands – Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment – Typical office and/or participant home providing assessments to families in their home. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions.Mostly onsite work schedule with flexibility for some remote work.
