Position Summary:
Provides a positive and safe dance environment that teaches children through Adults the love of dance and help with focusing on youth development and healthy living. Looking for someone for mid mornings and some evenings. Will be more classes beginning May through the summer months.
Essential Functions:
  1. Ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies from beginner to advanced level.
  2. Explain and demonstrate techniques and methods of regulating movements of body to musical or rhythmic accompaniment.
  3. Choreograph routines and select music for recitals and concerts.
  4. Engage, encourage, and motivate students to reach their goals.
  5. Assist each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
  6. Acts as a goodwill ambassador between the YMCA and participants.
  7. Ensures a well-rounded program.
  8. Assist with assessing the needs of the program and acts accordingly to fill those identified.
  9. Assist with developing the curriculum for their age group and goes over it with the Youth Development Director.
  10. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
  11. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  12. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  13. Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.
  14. Maintains the safety and well being of the children at all times.
  15. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. Minimum age of 18 years.
  3. Previous teaching experience required.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
  6. Demonstrate patience and leadership skills.
  7. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  8. Previous experience working with children preferred.
  9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not directly supervise staff.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to resolve routine problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to be sensitive and alert to the needs, feelings, and safety of others.

HOURS
This is a part-time position. Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of the YMCA, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays, based on the center needs.
