SalaryBald Ridge Lodge seeks AFTERNOON AND EVENING Youth Care Specialist for boys ages 12-21.
Bald Ridge Lodge, Inc., is a non-profit boys home, located in Forsyth County, Georgia which serves young men ages 12-21. We serve those who are in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services or referred by the local Juvenile Court. Through partnership with referring agencies, as well as families and caregivers, we focus on achieving reunification or other long-term permanent placements for residents after discharge. While at Bald Ridge Lodge, youth receive counseling, mentoring, tutoring, community support, extracurricular engagement, and learn life skills. We are licensed to serve up to 12 residents.
Purpose of Youth Care Specialist:
The Youth Care Specialist plays a crucial role in all daily operations and interactions with the youth served at Bald Ridge Lodge. They carry out each young person’s unique service plans under the direction of the Program Director and Case Manager, as well as provide therapeutic behavioral intervention. Youth Care Specialists on the WEEKEND MORNING and EVENING SHIFTs do this through teaching life skills, overseeing activities of daily living, coordinating transportation to/from work and extracurriculars, and ensuring participation in counseling and education services, among other tasks. All Youth Support Specialist(s) provide 24-hour, awake supervision to ensure the safety of each resident on their shift. They are also responsible for following all Bald Ridge Lodge policies and procedures, as well as meeting State licensing and contractual requirements for Child Caring Institutions. Youth Care Specialists provide routine, accurate documentation for their shift, and contribute to the required reporting measures for each youth.
Youth Care Specialists are trained in and thereby utilize the Nurtured Heart Approach for behavior modification with residents. The Nurtured Heart Approach teaches youth to channel their intense behaviors into demonstrations of their greatness. Through caregiver mentoring relationships, residents have firsthand experiences of their success. Staff refuse to energize negative behaviors, instead energizing the positive characteristics of our residents, while being clear on rules and expectations.
Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
- MUST BE at least twenty-one (21) years of age (State Licensing requirement)
- Possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a clear driving record and criminal background check
- Have a passion for helping children, including children with a history of trauma
- Experience working with older youth is preferred, especially in a supervisory or management role
Bald Ridge Lodge is currently seeking Youth Care Specialists for overnight shifts on weekdays and weekends. Employment may be full or part time depending on scheduling needs of the organization and individual availability.
Bald Ridge Lodge offers a Health Reimbursement Arrangement, and a retirement plan with employer contributions. Retention bonus available after six months of employment. Referral Bonus also available. Paid training in child welfare, mental health, trauma-informed caregiving, professional development, CPR/AED/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention is provided.
