SUMMARY
The Youth Basketball Attendant, under the supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, is responsible for the supervision of league games and ensuring users comply with the District's policies and procedures. Youth Basketball Games will be held at local Crystal Lake High Schools on Sundays between 12-6pm. Hours and days may vary based on the basketball league schedule and school availability.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from immediate supervisor.
  • Respond to routine customer inquiries regarding services of the district.
  • Remain calm under pressure and maintain records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
  • Capacity to proactively troubleshoot, problem solve and make sound judgements with respect to confidentiality.
  • Have sound practical judgement to priorities.
  • Responsible for answering queries of customers.
  • Communicate in a friendly manner to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate behavior to promote good public relations and tactfulness. Patience is also a character trait that is important when working with the public.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work.
  • Ability to cooperate with and interpret Park District philosophies in relation to governmental, public and private groups and agencies and the general public.
  • Capacity to be self- motivated and achieve goals with minimal supervision or direction
  • CPR/AED certified.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Effectively performs light custodial work and routine clean-up.
  • Completes athletic facility or gym set-ups and break downs.
  • Attendant must remain at the facility unless otherwise noted from the Athletic Supervisor.
  • Perform the job safely and compliance with the District policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee policy manual.
  • Routinely walks facility for security reasons and to inspect for safety issues such as spills, broken items and inappropriate behavior.
  • Must arrive thirty minutes early.
  • Operate equipment (clocks and timers) as required.
  • Greet the public and team upon arrival.
  • Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
  • Accurately fills out accident reports, incident reports, and any other forms and schedules established by the Park District.
  • Report any concerns or questions to supervisor.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
  • Respond to citizen's complaints and suggestions.
  • Attends trainings and staff meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Must be able to move tables and chairs and other equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance. Over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • May frequently be required to walk, sit, talk and hear.
  • May frequently be required to use hands and/or fingers, handle feel or operate objects, tools, or control; and reach with hands and arms.
  • May occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have specific vision abilities required for this job; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, dept perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Worker may be:
  • In and out of controlled temperatures occasionally throughout the day.
  • Occasionally exposed to elevated noise levels produced by large crowds.

Worker must be able to:
  • Train and/or pass on other prudent safety and other work related practices to co-workers.
  • Use basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • Follow step-by-step procedures and obtain appropriate end results.
  • Exhibit good problem solving abilities.
  • Communicate effectively and respond appropriately to the needs of internal and external contacts.
  • Project a positive image and neat appearance to visitors of the park district.
