Brief Description:

The Parts and Inventory Technician, Equipment & Yard, reports to the Equipment & Yard Supervisor (EYS) and receives direction from both the EYS and Regional Maintenance Manager (RMM). The Parts and Inventory Technician, is responsible for maintaining inventories, requesting and obtaining quotations, issuing purchase orders, communicating with vendors regarding open PO's and orders, procuring parts, helps identify cost saving strategies based on inventory levels, shipping and receiving stock in the warehouse, moving equipment and assisting in yard maintenance for the region. 

 

Detailed Description:

  • Operate yard equipment within Company's specified guidelines
  • Maintain clean and orderly appearance of the warehouse and yard
  • Receive parts and materials from vendors. Verify accuracy, quantity, conformance and receive in inventory.
  • Evaluating stock levels and making recommendations based on historical data and anticipated utilization.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is completed when inventory is distributed during after normal business hours.
  • Effectively communicates and verifies accuracy of parts orders with Maintenance Manager, Equipment and Yard Supervisor, and Operations Personnel.
  • Properly handle; store; stage or package parts and materials in the warehouse.
  • Accurately identify and account for parts and components related to warehousing
  • Organize and accurately issue parts to work orders utilizing the system
  • Accurately re-order parts charged to work orders utilizing the system
  • Maintain all equipment stored in the yard/warehouse to ensure proper status or availability
  • Conduct routine cycle counting per business needs
  • Maintain control and knowledge of inventory leaving and arriving at the warehouse
  • Conduct minor operator level maintenance tasks
  • Goods Receipt (GR) of all items (equipment, parts, etc.) arriving in yard
  • Assist with the Rig and Yard Inventory Process when directed
  • Assist in the inventory of tubular goods for region when directed
  • Assist in Parts Inventory Process
  • Create, process, and complete maintenance work orders and assist others in the organization with similar tasks using FMS
  • Ability to work on weekends and be on call after hours
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to safely navigate shops, yards and warehouses with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) 
  • Ability to travel to visit shops and yards to support business units; occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area 
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces 
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas 
  • Limited to moderate use of a variety of hand and power tools to demonstrate a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools 
  • Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch, and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties 
  • Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems 
  • Accurate recall of information over short and long-term memory 
  • Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects 
  • Stay alert and focused including during occasional extended work periods 
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others 
  • Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations 
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year stable related work history working in a manufacturing facility, shop or parts warehouse environment utilizing an ERP System 
  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license 
  • Live within a 1 hour driving distance of the assigned yard.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years' work experience in a relevant oilfield environment (farming, mining, construction, military, etc.)
  • One (1) year work experience with exposure to parts and components for drilling rigs.
  • One (1) year work experience operating a forklift and overhead crane
  • Knowledge and experience in warehousing and inventory management systems
  • General maintenance experience on heavy machinery and equipment

 

Additional Details:

This position requires the person to work in both office locations and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold / heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The Parts and Inventory Technician will be occasionally exposed to the typical conditions of the local area where the yards and warehouses are located. The Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. They must be able to work closely with others and under deadlines including time-sensitive response situations. They must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays.
