POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Regional Manufacturing Manager, this position leads and manages the flow of materials from post-production through inventory control and shipping.  This includes maintaining yard organization, managing finished goods inventory and controlling finished goods movements.

 

 

Office Location: Fort Lupton, CO

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 / year DOE

FLSA Status: Exempt

The Yard Superintendent is responsible for demonstrating and promoting the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Yard Management

  • Assigning daily tasks / responsibilities as required which include:
    • Maintain yard material management / material movements
    • Lead physical inventory counts twice yearly, or as required
    • Maintain and collaborate with production planning on inventory min/max levels
    • Maintain buy/resell min/max levels in SAP and work closely with the purchasing department to ensure those levels are met
    • Coordinate and organize yard inventories to minimize material handling, optimize inventory management and layout yard in an efficient manner
    • Maintain accurate records of material shipped/reclassified and prepare reports as required
    • Coordinate with production planning to identify non-moving inventory items and address with management (monthly write offs)
    • Process shipping and receiving orders
    • Perform inventory cycle counts on a weekly basis.
    • Monitor material for defects, eliminate sub-standard materials from shipping to customers, and inform the Sales Manager and Plant Manager of all quality issues / defective material
    • Maintain facility and equipment according to company standards for cleanliness and safety
    • Work with Team to provide follow-through on customer requests and to help provide superior customer service

 

 

Managing Personnel

  • Directly manage first line leads/supervisors as assigned to yard
  • Coaching, training, instructing and offering guidance to all involved in the yard materials management
  • Perform annual reviews for direct reports, engage in employee development and discipline as applicable
  • Lead recruiting, hiring and training of staff for area of responsibility
  • Act as backup for subordinate positions as needed
  • Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Five+ years in a Supervisory role. Production Management, Logistics Management, direct experience in the concrete block and/or sack industry a plus.
  • Motivated, resourceful, and inspired to be an agent for change.
  • Proven ability to coach, guide and lead subordinates.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for math, organizing personal tasks and repetitive duties in a dynamic environment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to consistently delivering the highest quality customer service.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Requires strong computer / MS Office (excel) knowledge and software application skills.
  • Working knowledge of the operations of a 10-key adding machine, copier, facsimile machine and any other office equipment required to perform duties.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.

  • Frequently required to use hands, fingers, and arms to handle/feel/lift product, and type/use computer.
  • Reach with hands and arms; talk and listen; stand, walk and sit.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Up to 5% travel time required.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required
