Yard Operator

Forklift Operators use Telehandler Forklift to perform tasks involving the moving of material/goods from one place to another.

Duties Summary/Responsibilities:

· Perform tasks involving the moving of material/goods from one place to another, as instructed, using a sit-down gas powered forklift

· Load and unload supplies (consumables, nuts and bolts, etc.) to the required area, and/or loading goods onto and off a truck, as instructed

· Remove material/supplies to the warehouse storage area or the plant store

· Inspect the equipment and accessories before use to make sure it is in good order and condition at all times

· Follow the OSHA safety checklist to make sure brakes, lights, steering, the horn, and other parts of the forklift are working properly

· Perform tasks using the overhead travelling cranes and/or hoisting gears, when required

· Any other tasks as required and/or special projects as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Must have excellent awareness and attention to safety

· Strong Hand-eye coordination and quick reflexes

· Proficient with driving varying types of construction equipment or applicable vehicles

· Good judgement to estimate load weights/heights; safely and adequately operate/drive the forklift within the equipment’s load/tolerance limits, specific requirements and principal features

· Basic mathematical and mechanical knowledge

· Know how to safely and properly operate overhead cranes

· Ability to work autonomously

· High Attention to detail

· Ability to display critical analysis/good judgment

· Dynamic and motivated in work approach

· Flexibility in adapting to new work

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:

• Heavy equipment operation: 1 year (Preferred)
