Department: Cross Dock Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Director of Operations

POSITION SUMMARY

As a team member in Cross dock Operations, you will be a part of Carter Express’ competitive and lively work environment. Shunt and Shuttle Drivers are the center of supply chain cross-docking in the Carter Network and play a vital role in the manufacturing of popular brands of vehicles seen on the road today. This position requires attention to detail, multi-tasking, the know-how to prioritize, and the ability to perform in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. Attention to safety and 5S standards are trained and required. The necessary processes to complete the job are trained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, SKILLS, and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and direct work assignments to respective hourly personnel in the organization unit Cross Dock operations, adhering to policy and procedure.
• Training and coaching of new and current teams.
• Monitoring and coaching to obtain a safe and effective work environment.
• Assure availability of operations equipment and proper paperwork for on-time delivery. Ensure correct operation of equipment for quality assurance.
• Report breakdown and equipment repair needs to maintenance immediately as they occur and reduce equipment delay times by working closely with maintenance personnel to the Crossdock management team.
• Organizing and planning of operational coverage, including weekend requirements.
• Identify risks in operations and actively plan to mitigate potential impacts through training and rolling out new initiatives.
• Maintain supplies, operational tools, and equipment.
• Cover vacation time or call-offs of non-CDL positions.
• Oversee and communicate with Yard Supervisors.
• Ensuring proper documents and procedures are being held to our implementation standard.
• Ensure the team properly uses Carter Express’s yard management system (YMS) and correct any employee training gaps.
• Responsible for auditing trailer pool on multiple yards and reporting to necessary stakeholders by the beginning of each shift.
• Report out hiring needs with corporate recruiters and local HR management.
• Monitoring, reporting, and controlling network routes to and from offsite lot.

EDUCATION:

Post-secondary education or High School Diploma or GED with preferred 3 years industry experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of experience in transportation load planning, yard management or fleet management is desired. Preferred experience in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain. Must have leadership experience and skills. Must have a close attention to detail. Must be able to work as a team and collaborate. Must be able to communicate and listen effectively to team members. Knowledge of standard warehouse and DOT policy preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage salary and hourly staff within the yard and document control.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, HRIS systems, MS Office programs, and applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer. Proficiency in email communication and reporting required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently close to moving material handling equipment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
