SalaryYard Jockey/Driver Duties:
- Yard Jockey's will drive and maneuver yard goat & trailers from dock to dock switching out empty trailers with full trailers to keep production moving.
- Safety is always the key, so driver must be safety minded, perform pre and post trips daily, chock rear wheels
- Be aware of safety hazards in all weather conditions, and check trailers before pulling away from the dock doors.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment, moving approximately 90+ moves per shift, with a VERY tight yard
- Driver must have strong communication skills as they will be interacting and taking direction from dispatchers, or warehouse managers on a consistent basis through radio and on board computer system.
- Responsible for positioning large containers in line with scheduled shipments
- Transporting both full and empty containers in and out of dock doors
- Communicating with warehouse staff on container availability via radio
- Drive Yard Dog in and out of dockyards and ensure that trailers and truck are kept clean and in good working condition
- Hostler should be skilled or knowledgeable in various vehicle repair techniques
Starting Pay: $26 an hour
Shift: Monday - Friday, Weekends based on business needs
Job Qualifications
Driver Requirements:
18 months or more Yard Jockey experience within the last 3 years.
Must have a good driving record
Required CDL A
