Form of workWUWF FM seeks a Public Radio Content Producer who will play a vital role in creating and delivering compelling content for both digital and broadcast platforms. This individual will contribute to the mission of providing informative and thought-provoking content to their audience.
Salary: $50,000 plus very generous benefits
Key Responsibilities:- Produce and deliver high-quality digital and broadcast content in adherence to Public Radio programming standards.
- Host NPR-style broadcasts, anchor local news, and broadcast public service announcements.
- Record programs and announcements for future broadcast.
- Develop and present in-depth stories, addressing critical community issues such as education, health, the environment, the arts, and community concerns.
- Create multi-part depth pieces that resonate with the public radio audience.
- Operate specialized technical equipment used in radio broadcasting.
- Manage and maintain the content management system (CMS) utilized by WUWF.
- Generate engaging digital content across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and others.
- Collaborate effectively with the production team to ensure the delivery of high-quality content.
- Demonstrate reliability and clarity in both spoken and written communication.
- Foster a team player mentality and a commitment to presenting and producing top-tier public media content.
- Complete assignments promptly to meet broadcasting schedules.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., Journalism, Communications) and three years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and seven years of applicable experience.
- Knowledge and awareness of Public Radio programming and values.
- Proficiency in digital audio production techniques and software.
- Strong content production skills are essential.
- Exceptional speaking and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate technical equipment specific to radio broadcasting.
- Working knowledge of the NPR CMS used by WUWF.
- Proven experience in creating digital content on various social media platforms.
- Reliability, clarity in both spoken and written communication, and a team player mentality.
- Dedication to presenting and creating quality public media content for digital and broadcast platforms.
- Prior experience hosting NPR broadcasts and anchoring local news.
- Familiarity with airing public service announcements and other on-air duties.
- Proficiency in recording programs and announcements for future broadcast.

Serve as local host of NPR's All Things Considered, anchoring local news, airing public service announcements and other information, recording programs and announcements for future broadcast, and other on-air duties as needed including working with ENCO DAD systems and Content Depot, taking transmitter readings, and other duties essential with operating a broadcast facility.

Produce digital and audio news stories and long form feature reports in the NPR style, focusing on issues and ideas relevant to the Gulf Coast community. Stories require extensive research, analysis of interview content, investigative and verification work, and interpretation based on audience factors.

Work with the Director of Content & Operations, and others in the creation of a cohesive digital and broadcast presence.
Participate in on-air membership drives.
Appear at fundraisers, station, and community events.
