Your New Role…
The Writer, Beauty and Fashion, will provide coverage of beauty and fashion products and anything industry related as it pertains to commerce for CNN Underscored, CNN’s Reviews and Recommendations section. The position will report to the Beauty Editor and help expand Underscored’s Fashion vertical, testing products for in-depth reviews, interviewing experts for trend pieces, keeping on top of changes in the fashion space and reporting news and trends in the fashion and beauty industry. This role is also tasked with tracking and implementing evergreen article updates and researching and writing sales/deals articles.
We are seeking someone with several years’ experience covering fashion and beauty for a major publisher, a proven ability to write commerce articles in a personable and non-jargon way, experience writing reviews and feature content, and in-depth knowledge of the latest beauty and fashion trends. Deep contacts within the industry are a must.
The right candidate can quickly adapt to the CNN Underscored voice and audience but is also encouraged to test creative new angles and help us continue to expand our beauty and fashion coverage.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Pitch and write commerce-based roundups, product reviews and guides for fashion and beauty verticals, taking into consideration evergreen and trending topics
Keep abreast of the beauty and fashion landscape, working with the editorial, SEO and analytics teams to provide coverage that engages readers and grows audience
Work with social media and video team on creative projects to promote both the brand and the fashion and beauty vertical, including appearing on camera where needed
Conduct in-depth product testing for how-to's, buying guides, one-off and comparative reviews
Write news and announcement posts with quick turnarounds
Make key updates to evergreen copy, ensuring top-performing articles reflect seasonality and include the latest products
Work with the SEO team to ensure stories and story updates comply with their guidance
Pitch story ideas and contribute to regular brainstorms
Assist with building stories for fashion and beauty verticals in Underscored’s CMS
Qualifications & Experience…
College degree in journalism or a related field preferred
4+ years of editorial experience covering beauty and fashion at a major publisher, ideally in a product-review and/or commerce capacity
Deep knowledge of the beauty and fashion space with strong contacts in the industry
Passion for employing shopping strategies and finding the best deals
Flawless grammar & spelling
Strong creative and writing skills
Must be detail-oriented, organized and have strong communication skills
Position reports to CNN Underscored Beauty Editor

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
