Job Summary/Purpose: The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse II reports to the Manager of the Specialty Nursing/Vascular Access Insertion Nursing teams. Under limited supervision, the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse II provides an in-depth plan of care for patients in a specialty area of wounds, ostomies and continence for all ages (neonate to adult) throughout the organization for inpatients and outpatients. This role coordinates nursing management and collaborates with other health care providers to implement programmatic changes. This position updates clinical practice based on current research and changes in the age and level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.
Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications): A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing and a minimum of three (3) years of applied related clinical work experience as an RN and 2 years of experience as a WOCNCB certified Wound and Ostomy (CWON) Nurse. Current South Carolina or compact state licensure as a registered nurse. A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. Current WOCNCB, Wound and Ostomy (CWON) or Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOCN) certification required. Additional Continence and Foot Care Certification (CFCN) preferred. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals. Ability to work in close collaboration with patients, families, physicians and other health disciplines. Knowledge of consultative and operational processes. Because the facility is a 24/7 operation, position may include mandatory participation in various schedules to include on-call, day, evening, night, holidays and/or weekend rotations or coverage.
