The primary purpose of your position is to make comprehensive wound assessments and create a plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation and outcomes for residents throughout the Facility. Further, the position will provide residents, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure injuries, fistulas, ostomies, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Additionally, the position will provide general direct nursing care to the residents, and will supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and other nursing personnel. To monitor the performance of CNAs, Licensed nursing and non-licensed personnel, provide education and counseling. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Education
- Must possess, at a minimum, an Associates or a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate from an approved RN program.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a medical or surgical, rehabilitation nursing setting.
- Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) required.
Specific Requirements of the Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN):
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to, and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies or personnel, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
