Wound Care Nurse (RN/LPN)

2 Part-time positions
The primary purpose of the Wound Care Nurse is to provide each of your residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan and as may be directed by your supervisors. The distinctive role of a Wound Care Nurse is a nurse who specializes in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders. Nurses in Wound Care management work with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Evaluates the skin surface of at-risk patients such as bed ridden elderly individuals to prevent decubitus ulcers.
- Provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation.
- Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc., as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse credentialed in the state of MI.
- Previous experience in long-term care is preferred.
- 3+ years Wound Care experience.
