Job Description:

Workforce Development - Allied Health Program Instructor(s) and Supplemental instructor(s) 

This is a part time, non-benefited position.

SALARY RANGE: $30.00 - $50.00/Hour, dependent on qualifications and/or position

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Greenfield Community College's Office of Workforce Development is seeking applicants for instructors for our Allied Health workforce training programs, including but not limited to: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Home Health Aide, and Nurse Aide (CNA).

In each of these programs, instructor(s) and staff are expected to provide classroom, practice and/or clinical instruction of non-credit health care trainings. Instructor(s) are responsible for instructional preparation, presentation and evaluation of student performance during classroom and related clinical activities. Instructor(s) and staff provide assistance to students for successful completion of each training program. Instructor(s) compile and maintain required student records and ensure that all training and skill activities meet required guidelines. Instructor(s) prepare students for required certification exams and/or industry recognized credentials, as required.

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, coordinates, manages and directs the classroom, skills lab and clinical non-credit health care trainings
  • Prepares instructional materials and evaluates student performance during classroom and related clinical activities, leading to successful completion of the program.
  • Ensure that all training and skill activities adhere to required state and federal guidelines (i.e. MA Department of Public Health regulations, HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)
  • Oversee rotations at clinical sites, as required; Clinical affiliations may include long term care, rehabilitation, hospital, and/or community sites. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with clinical sites and staff to provide a comprehensive and safe learning environment for students
  • Engages in regular effective communications with students, staff, and other stakeholders regarding programmatic changes and quality management issues
  • Compile and maintain confidential, accurate, timely and complete student records and reports as required by state and federal records. Meet with students exhibiting performance issues and document plans of action.
  • Prepare students for state certification exam(s) and/or assessments required by industry recognized credentials, as required.
  • Actively maintain up-to-date knowledge of current healthcare practices.


Requirements:

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:

  • Current health care professional licensure, as required depending on the training program (i.e. Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Medical Assistant, Paramedic), and/or certification (i.e. Certified Nursing Assistant)
  • At least one year of professional experience working in the healthcare field (specific to the discipline(s) being taught)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual and/or experience teaching ESOL
  • Registered nurse with current unencumbered licensure or LPN
  • Clinical experience in healthcare setting, behavioral health setting, or ambulatory care
  • Documented experience training or teaching adults or high school students
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint) and/or Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle
  • At least one year's experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, student evaluation, and remediation in a health care setting with this experience gained in such positions as in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel instructor.
  • Current AHA BLS Provider CPR certification.
