We are seeking a Wordpress Front-End Developer to join our busy and friendly team. If you are a Wordpress developer with modern front-end experience who is passionate about UX, this role is for you!
The Front-End Developer is responsible for contributing to the building and maintenance of websites. They assist with translating visual and functional designs into custom themes, templates, and modules primarily using WordPress, Hubspot and Shopify platforms. They will develop user interface and system modules in HTML, CSS(SASS), JavaScript/jQuery and PHP, and implement layout and functionality updates and improvements to existing WordPress themes and templates.
We are offering this as a full-time position but are open to part-time (minimum 32 hours per week) for the right candidate. This position is based in our Novato, CA office and the successful candidate must work in our office either on a hybrid or full-time basis.
What you will do:
- Under the guidance of designers and senior developers, translate visual designs and specifications into web pages and develop user interface and system modules in HTML, CSS, JavasScript/jQuery, and PHP.
- Become conversant in user experience and user interface design.
- Maintain and update WordPress and Shopify websites.
- Work under the supervision of senior developers, assisting with coding, testing, design adjustments, and client reviews.
- Make layout and functionality improvements to existing website themes and templates.
- Keep skills and knowledge current, learning new tools and technologies.
- Build HTML5 advertising banners and other digital marketing assets.
- Understand Git and the workflow processes used in web development.
- Assist in developing sites that adhere to Section 508 ADA and W3C AA compliance.
- Suggest new features, plugins, tools, and upgrades for existing Kiosk and client websites.
- Attend routine team meetings to share project status and ideas.
- Attend and participate in monthly ‘all-hands’ meetings.
- Complete and submit weekly timesheets, with assistance as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Look for new ways to constantly improve Kiosk’s work quality and processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, or relevant experience.
- A positive personality, and enthusiasm for the work you undertake
- Experience with the WordPress platform, including themes, plugins, maintenance, and performance.
- Ideal candidate will have some experience with Hubspot, Shopify, Formstack, GTM/GA, and other common integrations.
- Experience with PHP, HTML5, CSS/SASS, JavaScript/jQuery.
- Solid understanding of web development principles, and a passion for user experience (UX).
- Exposure to Web Platform basics, Linux basics, MySQL, and Git.
- Interest in, and ability to learn, new skills and processes quickly and proficiently.
- Interest in improving skills with accessibility, UX design, web performance, and development best practices.
- A proactive and tenacious work ethic; you will thrive on getting great work done.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine desire to collaborate with, and learn from, other team members.
- The ability to work independently, with limited supervision, and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, and Google Presentations (MS Office experience will translate).
- Attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to check your own work.
