Wordpress Developer

Assist with the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of our web properties. Responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating and managing custom WordPress themes and plugins and/or Laravel web app development.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop front-end interactive experiences and back-end integrations to support objectives.
• Prototype, test and iterate against designs and specification to optimize user experience and overall product performance.
• Build RESTful API’s to be ingested by other applications within the organization.
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs and performance problems.
• Write clean, readable, and testable code.
• Desired Profile: Experience of PHP 7 or later and OOP beneficial.
• Extensive knowledge and experience of building WordPress CMS websites.
• Experience working with WordPress at a PHP code level.
• Knowledge of existing inbuilt WordPress functions.
• Creation of plugins/widgets written to conform to the WordPress coding standards.
• Creation of clean, logical, well-documented and re-usable code.
• Creation of custom post types.
• Creation and management of custom themes and page builders (Elementor).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years overall experience in software engineering.
• 3+ experience in Web site design and development

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• - 3-5 years of PHP development
• - Tools: GitHub, post man, etc…

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Demonstrated experience with:
• WordPress: installation, upgrade, custom theme & plugin development and WP Multisite
• And/or Laravel: installation, upgrades and development.
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial.
• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
• Understanding of and experience with Linux, PHP, Apache, MYSQL and web services.
• Confident, self-starting, and goal oriented.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Able to lift 30 lbs. – sometimes, you are required to walk, sit, talk, stand, stoop, bend, push, pull, and carry.
• Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
• Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of seven hours per day.
• Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculator, telephones and other office equipment.
