Nevada Sage Waldorf School is seeking an experienced Woodworking Teacher to join our school community for the 2024- 2025 school year. Responsibilities include teaching 2 periods of a combined 6th & 7th Grade Woodwork class per week and 1-2 periods of a combined 4th & 5th Grade Woodwork class per week. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic teacher to work with children, ages 10-14 years old. Our class sizes are 12 or less students.

About the Woodworking Position

Explorations in Woodworking are an integral part of the entire school day. By fifth grade students have discovered the dexterity and will power necessary to begin working weekly on woodworking projects. Woodwork class begins with carving simple objects like eggs and spoons out of softer hardwoods. After learning the basics of wood carving, students move on to more intricate projects involving the assembly of multiple parts and the use of a variety of hand tools. Recent projects in the upper grades have included wooden swords, hatchet handles and the capstone eighth grade project, the three-legged stool.
