Job description

Women's Shelter House Manager - (Part-time) 3rd shift

House manager will have strong communication and conflict resolution skills; clear boundaries and an understanding of the needs of those who are homeless and/or battling addiction. Familiarity with psychopharmacology and mental health disorders required (training will be provided). House manager must have an ability to handle difficult situations in a swift, calm manner.

This role is part-time, and 3rd shift.

House manager must have 12 months sobriety if in recovery. (Exceptions will be made based on program need but no less than 6 months will be allowed).

Responsibilities:

  • Assures safety and security of all residents in the house at all times
  • House manager will model appropriate communication skills as dictated by program management
  • Monitor distribution/ consumption of medications and accurately document all medication related information.
  • Provides supervision and monitoring of residents
  • Provides positive modeling of behavior, language, promptness and responsibility for residents
  • Enforces all house and program rules
  • Maintains resident records (house log), especially tox screen results, house chores, curfews.
  • Manages communication problems in the house and any other issues that arise during the shift
  • Conducts hourly rounds of the entire house, checking on all residents in all aspects of their activities
  • Notify Program Coordinator of any suspicious activity, unauthorized activity, significant behavior changes on the part of the residents in the program, and/or the CEO when issues require an elevated level of intervention and guidance
  • House Managers must comply with all the aspects of resident’s confidentiality.
  • Assist residents with daily living life skills such as; communication, respectfully living in a sober environment, cleanliness of self and surroundings, time management, cooking cleaning etc.
  • Assure residents have completed chores assist when deemed necessary
  • The House Manager on duty is ultimately responsible for the cleanliness of the house, including sleeping areas
  • Assist any new residents with introductions to others in the program, orientation of house rules, meal preparation, shower and laundry policy
  • Checks all belongings of incoming residents for unauthorized items and excessive clothing
  • House managers must attend all required supervision meetings. These will be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by the primary case manager.
  • House managers must attend weekly House Manager’s and house meetings.
  • House managers must have a strong understanding and working knowledge of the importance of boundaries between staff and residents
  • House managers are prohibited from selling and/or purchasing items to and from program residents or using residents to perform personal services.
  • Assure that shift checklist has been completely filled out prior to ending your shift and ensure all lights are turned off, all power appliances are turned off, dinner for the day is pulled out by guests for defrosting.
