JT4 is hiring a Wireless System Engineer III for their Las Vegas, NV location.

JOB SUMMARY -- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

In this role, you will research and provide design level solutions for the current Wireless Systems within JT4 while considering availability, scalability, security, and manageability as appropriate. You will also perform network System Engineering on a broad range of programs providing overall support for various business-critical networks. This involves working with customers to understand their technology and product needs, designing new systems, defining and developing new computing, network, and security technology products, and working with product development teams to implement them. In this role, you will work individually and in teams to perform internal research and development, respond to customer proposals, provide technical leadership, and advise product teams.

  • Conducts research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information and keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes and procedures applied to engineering specialty.
  • Performs engineering or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character.
  • Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instruction on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.
  • Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.
  • Using computer-assisted test methods, conducts laboratory investigations on equipment or systems.
  • Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical studies.
  • Able to assist with cellular network design and engineering to support network growth and adaptation.
  • Studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
  • Perform all position related duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • An Associates Degree and 4 years of related experience or a Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:

  • Mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs.
  • Must be familiar with RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, etc.).
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Wireless Systems to include Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS), Global System for Mobile communications (GSM), Long-term Evolution (LTE), Fourth/Fifth generation Wireless (4G/5G).
  • Knowledge and experience in Radio Frequency (RF) principals to include cell tower propagation, RF plotting, cellular inter-linking, field testing, neighboring, uplink-downlink testing as well as subscriber provisioning.
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OA&M) practices to include engineering and analysis under the supervision of senior wireless engineers.
  • Able to sustain Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure utilizing the latest and diverse performance and optimization tools.
  • Be well versed wireless core upgrades and provisioning.
  • Has demonstrable knowledge of IP functionality to include architecture, firewalls, and network access.
