LOCK 3 DOWNTOWN ICE RINK
ICE RINK ATTENDANT (SEASONAL PART-TIME)
This is seasonal specialist work in the City's Winter Recreation program.
An employee in this class develops, supervises, and instructs a Winter Recreation program in a particular recreational specialty area. The season for employees in this class in the Downtown Operations Division begins October 1 and ends April 1 each year.
Works under the supervision of a Recreation Supervisor or independently under general supervision.
Must be able to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends. Must occasionally perform difficult physical labor such as climbing, bending, kneeling and performing repetitive movements. List of essential functions available upon request.
Ice Rink Attendants require basic ice skating ability. Attendants supervise skaters at the Lock 3 outdoor Ice Rink from late November through early February. Attendants must be available to work during normal operation hours (Thursday - Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.)
The candidates will be ranked in a standard manner based on information, records, and other data related to the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position sought.
Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment.
RESIDENCY: Candidates who have been resident citizens within the corporate limits of the City of Akron for at least one year immediately prior to the examination and who continue to reside within the corporate limits of the City of Akron throughout the remainder of the selection process will have 5 points added to their passing grades.
VETERANS: A veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, honorably discharged from active duty, desiring a bonus of 5 points added to his/her passing grade, must submit proof of discharge in the form of a DD-214 with application.
