Responsibilities
  • Sell wine and beer in a manner consistent with company guidelines and applicable laws.
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal laws, safety and food safety regulations, and Company guidelines.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads and engage customers using this information.
  • Offer product samples and help customers discover new items or products inquire about.
  • Provide customers with products that they have requested as well as recommend additional items.
  • Assist customers in pairing wine and beer through suggestive selling of meats, cheeses, desserts etc.
  • Implement regular wine and beer tastings to promote product excitement within the community.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, proper signage and merchandising standards for products normally carried as well as special orders.
  • Perform Price Changes and ensure overall price integrity.
  • Execute CAO and Key Retailing Programs and maintain sales floor and backroom standards.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Report all safety risks, customer or employee incidents or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications
Minimum
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Attend training sessions and pass industry certification testing.

Desired
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
  • Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties of wine and beer, their flavor profiles and how they are made.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the consumer.
  • Experience working with wine and beer.
  • Retail experience.
