The Wine Attendant will support The Piper Wine Lounge at Piccolo Hotel and ensure a dedication to the highest quality of customer satisfaction delivered with a sense of graciousness, pride, fun, and company spirit. Greets all visitors and pours wines for tasting. Describes wines and provides general tourist information. Dedicated to ensuring a wonderful wine tasting experience, including the handling of disgruntled customers.
Responsibilities of the Ideal Candidate:
- Prepares the Piper Wine Lounge for daily opening and closing.
- Promotes the sale of wine products sold.
- Acts as informed resource for consumers regarding local wineries, winemaking and wine vintages.
- Conduct an entertaining and informative wine tasting for all guests using educational tools, storytelling and accurate facts.
- Participates in maintaining inventory and assists with counts, and audits.
- Conduct experiences at a high level throughout the day.
- Assists in supply monitoring and inventory. Notifies manager of low stock items.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Piper Wine Lounge.
- Support back of house cleaning with glass washing/polishing, trash/recycle emptying.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Pay starts at $17.50/hr plus tips.
Position Requirements:
- Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
- 1 year of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, direct to consumer marketing, or wine education experience preferred.
- Knowledge of wine and wineries.
- Required to be 21 years of age or older.
The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently to assist guests.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation.
- Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel.
- Ascend and descend a ladder.
