Supplemental Information
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all WILDLIFE AND aquatic life.
LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology. The Office of Fisheries exists to ensure that aquatic resources are sustainable for present and future generations of Louisiana citizens by providing access and scientific management.
This technical position functions to support and perform freshwater fish sampling, monitoring of freshwater aquatic habitat and limited aquatic plant control duties across a large geographical region of northeast Louisiana.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides support as part of a regional fisheries management team with activities such as conducting various fish sampling methods using multiple gear-types as well as collecting biological fisheries and aquatic data in public waterbodies for research purposes
- Operates boats, motor vehicles, computers and sampling equipment
- Maintains and calibrates equipment
- May participate in various aquatic plant control programs. Includes obtaining appropriate certifications for applying EPA approved herbicides and working with biological controls
- Operates and maintains boats, winches, trailers, nets, scientific equipment, navigational equipment, tractors, lawnmowers, motor vehicles, and power tools
- Performs general maintenance of buildings and grounds
- Assists in major facility renovations, including general carpentry

Assists biologists and technicians of a higher level in various natural resource management or research activities, including use, maintenance and calibration of scientific and technical equipment.
Assists in habitat enhancement and management.
Helps maintain buildings, public ramps, grounds, roads, vehicles, boundary markers, equipment, lake management structures and other equipment.
Operates high-pressure spray pumps, outboard motors, air boats, mud boats, vehicles, tractors, and other Department equipment.
