SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works closely with providers and medical assistants within our clinics to provide high quality and compassionate patient care. The person in this position must be consistent and competent in the standards of nursing practice following the rules, policies, and procedures developed by Whitman Hospital Medical Clinics and within their scope of practice following the guidelines of the State of Washington.
Wage Range $25.00 to $37.50

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Duties
- Prepares patients by bringing them to a room, starting data collection and entering patient information in the EMR.
- Assists physician or healthcare provider with examinations, treatments and procedures.
- Contacts patients and external providers who have called regarding test results or questions relating to patient care.
- Cleans, prepares and stocks varying rooms within the clinic and maintains any laboratory or exam room equipment.
- Administers medications, gives injections and draws blood as directed by physician/provider.
- Performs aseptic procedures and assists in sterile procedures.
- Performs diagnostic testing within their scope of practice.
- Appropriately handles and transports biohazard materials such as surgical instruments used in the clinic to CS for sterilization.
Quality Control
- Maintains medication logs by logging inventory of sample medications, expirations dates, and patient distribution.
- Participates in the performance and completion of quality assessment techniques in the clinical area.
- Adheres to required safety practices/OSHA guidelines in the workplace.
- Always takes immediate corrective action if indicated and reports problems to appropriate personnel for potential or actual safety hazards.
Other
- Travels to other clinics as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- WA DOH Licensed Practical Nurse Certification.
- AHA BLS Certification and maintained while employed.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Preferred
- Two years previous clinic experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.
