FRONT DESK CLERK
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to deal effectively with the general public, pool patrons and staff
- Strong organizational and mathematic skills
- Community First Aid & Safety certification while not required CPR is desirable
- Background check clearances FBI, Child Abuse, and Criminal
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports directly to the Pool Manager.
- Collect monies and balance the cash drawer on your shift.
- Never have more than $200.00 in the cash drawer. Keep extra monies in safe until they can be deposited in the bank.
- Keep a detailed and accurate record for all accounts. This includes monies collected, receipts for memberships, attendance and sales.
- Count cash, sign the proper ledger forms, obtain signature from manager on duty. Adhere to the checklist.
- Collect money for daily pool passes, entry fees, swim and water classes, t-shirt and Swim
Diapers sales, etc.
- Register must be counted at shift and staff change.
- Collect pool membership cards, daily rate, and spectator fees that permit patron entry to the pool area.
- Keep office and lobby area clean and orderly at all times. Vacuum and clean windows when necessary. Check planters outside main pool doors watering and weeding as needed. Leave the desk and lobby area clean and organized for the next shift.
- Maintain supplies in restroom. Check restrooms every 30 minutes or as needed. Management
will cover front desk during this time. Complete sign in sheet.
- Understand emergency procedures, the use of 911, and the pool PA system.
- In the event of a robbery, do what the individual tells you. Give him/her the money. Pay attention to details. Remember which direction the individual fled, what he/she was wearing, etc. Lock the door behind you and immediately call 911.
- Answer telephones as follows: Good Morning (Afternoon or Evening), West Reading Swimming
Pool, (your Name) speaking, “How May I Help You?”
- Be available to assist in special events the Recreation Director requires. While these events may or may not be directly related to your position as Front Desk Clerk they are related to the
Department as a whole. These special events may include but are not limited to the following: the July 4th Celebration, moonlight swims and water events.
- Notify the Pool Manager when first aid, office supplies or forms are needed.
- Assist the Pool Manager in maintaining an up-to-date and attractive bulletin board.
- Keep the front desk glass uncluttered and attractive.

- Arrive ten-fifteen minutes before your schedule starting time to organize and be prepared to start your shift. Example: if you are scheduled to work from 12:00PM-5:00PM, arriving at
11:45AM-11:50AM will allow preparation time.
- In case of illness, lateness or a personal emergency contact the manager on duty or the
Recreation Director.
The Front Desk Clerk is expected to properly perform the duties contained in this job description and fulfill additional request management personnel assign.
Socializing and cell phone use must be confined to off-duty.
