Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Welding Automation Process Specialist to join our team, supporting the Great Lakes & Midwest United States, assisting as needed in the Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast states.

As part of the team, you'll collaborate with diverse industrial accounts, work alongside sales teams, distributors, OEMs, and integrators. Your focus will be supporting team initiatives for Welding Automation, covering advanced processes and equipment. Your responsibilities will span waveform development, communication protocols, arc data monitoring, and training customers on new technologies.

This role also involves providing support to end-users, assisting in the sales process, and fostering relationships within our business network and key customer accounts. Join us in this collaborative effort to advance Welding Automation technology with a focus on Miller’s automated high deposition process, Hercules, as well as other advanced power source equipment, consumables, and waveforms!

Qualifications

What you will do and impact:

As a Welding Automation Process Specialist, you will provide:

  1. Product Expertise:
    • Develop a deep understanding of our Welding Automation product line, including features, capabilities, and applications.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to Welding Automation.
    • Have a primary focus on supporting advanced processes and equipment, encompassing waveform development, communication protocols, arc data monitoring functions, and delivering customer training on emerging technologies, processes, and equipment.
  2. Technical Support:
    • Provide technical assistance to customers, including product demonstrations, troubleshooting, and training programs.
    • Collaborate with the technical support team to address and resolve customer inquiries promptly.
  3. Customer Engagement:
    • Engage with potential and existing customers to identify their specific Welding Automation needs.
    • The candidate is expected to cultivate and broaden relationships within the business network and key customer accounts.
    • The responsibilities also extend to end-user support, including cost and product justifications, assisting in the sales process, and conducting needs analysis.
  4. Product Promotion:
    • Assist in the development of marketing materials, including product literature, presentations, and case studies.
    • Conduct product demonstrations at trade shows, industry events, and customer sites.
  5. Training and Education:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for internal staff, distributors, and end-users to enhance their understanding of Welding Automation products.
  6. Collaboration:
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with key clients across various industries, working closely with the sales teams, distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and systems integrators.
    • This role will involve active participation in supporting and leading sales initiatives for automation within the welding business units.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical field, required.
  • 5+ years proven experience in Welding Automation or a similar technical role, required.
  • 50 to 75% travel required (less if located in Carol Stream, IL).

  • Strong welding process background with flexible automation experience
  • Proven track record of excellent communication skills to all levels of an organization. Excellent communication skills with delivering complex concepts in clear and concise ways, and presentation skills.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze current business issues and end-user needs.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, and solid decision-making abilities.
  • The ability to implement change as a part of cross-functional teams in a variety of capacities. 
  • Ability to build existing relationships among employees, distributors, and key end-users.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-moving environment that values an entrepreneurial spirit.
