Job Description Summary:
Responsible for cutting metal in an efficient manner to maximize production. As a Saw Operator should be able to produce accurate cuts and be willing to grind as necessary. As a Welder should be able to MIG weld on mild steel while using weld prints to produce a quality product.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Divide up parts, cut metal with saw, plasma cutters or torches, read blueprints, drill holes, sharpen, shine, and deliver metal with a forklift.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner and report hazards associated with the equipment or its operators to the Facilities & Maintenance Department.
- Weld in horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
- Weld heavy mild steel material with material thickness of 1/16" to 2".
- Ability to read weld prints.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Participate in physical inventory cycle and year-end counts.
- Must have welding experience
- Must have forklift experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating-maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Communication/Teamwork: Person should effectively communicate with workers, supervisors, or other departments.
- Equipment: Person should be trained in forklift would be a plus.
- Strength: Person often need to lift (up to 50 lbs.) or hold heavy pieces of metal in place while cutting and supporting welding.
- Stamina: Person can expect long hours on their feet, often in hot and/or loud conditions. Person should be able to climb and work from a ladder.
- Good Vision: Keeping a steady eye on the cut as it takes form requires color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
The hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am - 4:45 pm and Friday 7:00 - 11:00 am, must be able to work overtime as needed.
