Welder/Fabricating Technician

Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for joining, fabricating and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsibility to interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process
• Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness with meeting quality standards
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Qualifications:

• Formal Education Requirement:
• HS Diploma or equivalency

Minimum Years of Experience Necessary:

• At least 2 years’ experience with welding thin gauge (less than .010”) metals using TIG and/or plate welding experience.

Competencies:

• Must exhibit a high degree of manual dexterity with great attention to detail and workmanship.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
• Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine.
• Requires high degree of responsibility for safety to self, to others, for equipment, and materials.
• Must maintain clean, orderly, and safe work area and follow all safety rules and procedures. Identify safety concerns and drive for successful resolution.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Must be willing to work to get the job done under overtime hours inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays
