Welder Assistant

We are looking for a Welder Assistant immediately.
$15.00 - $25 DOE
Minimum 1 year experience.

• Full understanding of all hot work policies; obtain hot work permit from each location including the main warehouse and turn in daily as needed.
• Report directly to Ricardo Delgado-ZM, to Lead Welder, and ensure that all work orders are completed daily
• Sign off on all completed work orders
• Complete electronic daily vehicle inspections via Encore app.
• Assist in fabricating a wide variety of metal structures from tables, rails, four ways, etc.
• Inspects recycling locations (e.g., balers, sorting tables, metal doors, jambs, frames, security bard, thresholds, handrails, guardrails, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that components are in safe working condition.
• Maintains equipment, tools, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety and repair concerns.
• Enforce PPE, wear the proper safety equipment and follow ALL safety codes within yard and warehouse as well as each job site.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
• Ensuring the building and warehouse meets health and safety requirements.
• Operating safety working equipment and applying safety practice at work while performing his/her duties: Must be able to operate a forklift; be forklift certified.
• Operating other accessory equipment and performing tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs;
• Control the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of spare parts;
• Examining finish products and spare parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met;
• Arranging and assuring the welded parts to be arranged in order before being assembled into final products.
• Material handling including commodities and transporting metal around shop and to/from project sites; must be able to lift/maneuver an upward of 900 lbs.; includes loading/transloading.
• Safely operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, and brazing and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment in order to bond metal or repair worn or broken metal parts; Must also operate metal shaping machines.
• Welding spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.
• Igniting flame or striking an arc while welding or performing other electricity-related work to weld part of a metal structure;
• Assist in all fleet maintenance, baler repairs, and additional repairs as needed.
• Assist with any other duties as requested.
