Job Summary

Learn and gain experience in the behind-the-scenes process that goes into implementing large- and small-scale events.
  • Set up events by gathering, moving, and preparing supplies for an event.
  • Assist in the implementation of social events.
  • Staff events and remain on site for the duration of the event.
  • Assist with event take-down and evaluation.
Learn and gain experience in outreach, relationship building, and public speaking.
  • Assist parents and students by fielding questions in the Information Tent and at events during Welcome Week.
  • Assist with educational and informational sessions.
  • Provide class schedule tours of campus.
  • Greet individuals entering sessions or at check in; mingle with students and families in between and at events.
All Welcome Week Student Crew members will:
  • Assist with other duties as assigned throughout Welcome Week.
  • Participate in training the weekend before Welcome Week starts.
Student Crew members will not be available to work other on-campus or off-campus jobs during Welcome Week (August 11 – 18, 2024).

Pay Rate

$14.50/hr

Required Qualifications

All student employees in the Dean of Students Office must maintain good academic (min. 2.0 cumulative GPA) and disciplinary standing from the point of application through term of employment. The employer will check status at the beginning and the end of each semester of employment.
Must be in good standing with the Student Conduct and Community Responsibilities office.
Must be a student during the Fall 2024 semester.

Work Hours

Various – morning, afternoon, and evening
5-7 hours TOTAL (not per week) in April 2024.
An additional 30-35 hours during Welcome Week: August 11-18, 2024, plus 5-10 hours of training August 11, 2024.

Proposed Starting Date

Training will take place April 2024, with implementation in August 2024

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held.
