Welcome Center Attendant
Status: Non-exempt, Part- Time
Reports to: Director of Member Experience
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Welcome Center Attendant at Gloucester County YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Welcome Center Attendant responds to member and guest needs and handles all Welcome Center operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Welcomes guests, communicates member experience and expectations to a diverse group of people.
2. Provides excellent customer service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
3. Maintains cleanliness and organization of Welcome Center area.
4. Conduct tours to prospective members; sells memberships.
5. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y.
6. Serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.
7. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
8. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED and be at least 18 years old.
· Strong attention to detail required as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
· CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
· Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
segments of the community
· Basic knowledge of computers and demonstrate ability to use specific Membership software programs and software after completing training.
· Ability to work with many interruptions, handling multiple tasks in a calm and responsible way always affirming the member (e.g., scan and smile, nod, wave while answering the phone, if alone).

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
· The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds plus more.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.13 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
