You will serve as a Weight Handling Equipment Inspector/Mechanic in the Rigging/Crane Program, Code 3523.5 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY
Qualifications: Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO INSPECT.
Your resume must demonstrate the following: I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including 1) Use standard heavy duty hand tools and a wide variety of special tools related to Weight Handling Equipment (WHE); 2) examine major mechanical units and component parts such as gearboxes, brake systems, bearings, external gears, shafts, wire rope, load chain, hydraulic cylinders, and other mechanical integral units of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE); and 3) Diagnose problems, disassemble, fit, assemble and adjust mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 (Management of Weight Handling Equipment) is highly desirable. If you possess this skill, please indicate within your resume or attach a supplemental document to you application.
