Wekkend Attendant (Part-time)
The Town of Windsor, CT seeks an enthusiastic and friendly person to provide customer service in the nature center at Northwest Park. Our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of nature and build community through educational and passive recreational experiences on 473 acres of natural habitats. The Weekend Attendant serves as the frontline staff to assist visitors in the exhibit hall, gift shop, and park office.
This is a paid, year round Part time position. Work schedule is 8 hours per week, Saturdays, 9:00 - 5:00 pm. The hourly rate is $16.00 per hour. Requires a drug screen and criminal background check before hiring.
Responsibilities:

• Interact with the public and be a friendly representative of the park to all visitors
• Provide customer service to visitors in the exhibit hall and over the phone to answer questions about park grounds, attractions, and natural resources
• Make sales in the gift store, display merchandise, close out register each night
• Assist park visitors with issues such as lost hikers, lost and found items, etc.
• Open and close nature center; maintain displays and public spaces in good order
• Serve as a communications hub between other park staff and park visitors
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
• Competent use of Internet and MS Office, with the ability to learn point of sale software
• Excellent judgment and customer service skills
• Be comfortable in outdoor natural areas, and an enthusiastic advocate for the environment
