Job Title:

Wedding & Event Assistant for the Montague Retreat Center

Rate:

$20/hour to start, with the possibility of moving up into an Event Coordinator role.

We are seeking a Wedding & Event Assistant to join our dedicated team and continue our tradition of providing exceptional wedding experiences. The MRC has an amazing and unique legacy vital to the Pioneer Valley.

Position Overview: As the Wedding & Event Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in helping with aspects of our wedding business operations. You will work closely with couples, vendors, and our internal team to ensure that every wedding held at our venue is a memorable and seamless experience. Your passion for weddings, meticulous attention to detail, and strong sense of service and skills will be essential to uphold our legacy of excellence.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be minimum of 18 years or older
  • 1-2 years of hospitality experience, and some prior wedding experience
  • Personable & friendly with a calm demeanor
  • Possesses ability to interact professionally with guests and staff
  • Good under pressure, with an understanding of timelines and managing families, wedding parties, etc. who are feeling overwhelmed/and may have a lot of questions or need emotional support/reassurance.
  • Ability to lift/move items of up to 40lbs
  • Team Player- must possess the ability to wear multiple “hats” and quickly transition between tasks
  • Ability to take instruction from event manager and catering staff, supporting where needed
  • Must be comfortable/familiar with Google Drive and Excel
  • Must have Drivers license and reliable transportation

Job Responsibilities (depends on shift worked and may include but is not limited to):

  • Greeting and guiding guests and hired professionals on event days
  • Offering assistance with guiding parking as guests arrive on site to the venue
  • Preparation of spaces prior to guest arrival (spot checking cleanliness, stocking accommodations, etc.)
  • Checking guests into accommodations upon arrival
  • Light set up of client decor
  • Furniture set up & moving- before, during and between events, there may be a need to set up additional chairs, and move/adjust tables.
  • Support with event coordination during the event. This may include, but is not limited to, supporting wedding parties & guiding guests during ceremony, reception and formalities.
  • Support preparing spaces as guests transition from space to space throughout the venue
  • Support with fire pit lighting (in conjunction with on-site caretaker)
  • Support during ceremony
  • Ensuring restrooms and other areas are clean, properly stocked and trash emptied when needed
  • Light cleaning during event- managing trash, spills, etc.
  • Support with breakdown/strike at the close of the event. This may include light trash removal, gathering of client decor/items, and ensuring space is “event ready” for the next day.
  • Ensuring the guest experience is seamless and one of excellence.
  • During and with the threat of inclement weather- may be asked to put away/store ceremony chairs and/or cocktail area furniture. Anything that is outdoors may need to be moved and/or brought in.
  • Communications with clients before events
  • On non-event days, employee may run tours for prospective clients. A solid understanding of our packages, pricing, and offerings is required.
  • Administrative Tasks- this position may expand to include office duties that may include management of an online reservation accommodation system, website updating, social media management, client worksheet management, floor plans and more.
  • Sales-this position may expand to include booking new clients

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
