Job Description:
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is looking for an experienced Website Administrator / Web Application Developer (Information Systems Specialist 6) to join our Information Services Team. The selected candidate will provide technical services to assist the Department in attaining its business objectives through the development, acquisition, implementation, maintenance, and operation of business application software. They will also serve as the primary administrator for the Department's public website and will participate on a wide variety of technology projects impacting the Department and its customers throughout the State of Oregon.

WHAT YOU WILL DO (in part)
  • Meet with management regularly to discuss current and future functionality.
  • Monitor website security and perform all necessary updates.
  • Monitor and report on web traffic.
  • Make all necessary updates to the Department website, minimizing downtime.
  • Update website content as required.
  • Repair any broken web links and fix any reported bugs.
  • Maintain virtual and cloud-based servers, optimizing speed and performance.
  • Contribute to discussions on ways to improve functionality and usability.
  • Reply to user comments and queries in a timely fashion.
  • Manage server and website backups and failover procedures.
  • Develop or modify software to support re-engineered business processes using Department standard development toolsets and techniques.
  • Contribute to the design and development of standards, business processes, software architecture and strategic direction of the Information Services section.
  • Diagnose complex system problems and crashes. Respond to information system failures that may be critical to all agency and District Attorney offices staff as well as other agencies and the public.
  • Work with business, partner agency and IS staff by participating in business meetings to define business requirements and assist in cost analysis to anticipate customer resource needs.
  • Research and evaluate new industry products, approaches and technology directions with focus on how they may be integrated or adopted into DOJ technology. Test new technology with existing systems. Develop new skills that can be applied to current and future projects.

DESIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCES
Some of our best candidates will be able to illustrate one or more of the following skills, attributes, or experiences.
  • Experience with Wordpress websites, including theme design and maintenance.
  • Experience with website management tools, including:
    • cPanel
    • Wordfence
    • Google Analytics
  • Knowledge and understanding of Secure Systems Development Lifecycle (SSDLC).
  • Knowledge and experience with collaborative / Agile software development methodologies and practices.
  • Experience in .NET full-stack development tools and languages.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting applications and software using the Java programming language.
  • Experience designing and developing web services.
  • Ability to effectively manage tasks with competing resources and priorities.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to perform with limited or no direct supervision.
  • Ability to research, document, program and implement business solutions.
  • Systems analysis and problem resolution.
  • Communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Communicate technical information in a way that is understandable by customers and users.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technical and business skills.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND ATTRIBUTES
Five (5) years of Information Systems experience that demonstrate knowledge or ability to work in a .NET development environment. Education will be counted as experience if degree was in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or if a two (2) year accredited vocational training program was completed in information technology or related field.
  • Associate's Degree (or 2-year vocational training) = Two (2) Years
  • Bachelor's Degree = Four (4) Years

AND
  • Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check. A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges. Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.

Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.)
