Position Title:

Web Programmer / Analyst

Overview:

St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities:

The position of Web Programmer / Analyst will be responsible for providing applications support St John Fisher University’s various websites as well as application integration using web service technologies.
Responsibilities ill include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the entire software development lifecycle for all changes/development of web solutions, which include design, documentation, development, unit testing and maintenance
  • Manage and implement software releases, updates, and upgrades
  • Support, maintain and monitor web applications
  • Follow the SDLC Waterfall model for implementation of changes
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to websites and integrations
  • Automate manual processes where practical especially in the areas of deployment, testing, monitoring and documentation
  • Provide technical assistance to students, faculty and university staff related to our websites and forms
  • Understand and communicate security issues related to our websites
  • Engage university members to understand goals, expectations, business processes, workflows and data used for business operations
  • Understand the current website landscape and its integrations

This position requires collaboration with OIT staff, students, faculty, university staff and departments.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from two or four-year college or university or at least five years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competencies / Skills:

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with HTML/HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Apache
  • Critical thinking and communications
  • Curiosity and the desire to learn and understand
  • Ability to gather, record, and organize requirements
  • Web Security awareness
  • Basic understanding of SQL
  • Basic understanding of git
Preferred Skills:
  • LAMP
  • Web content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Terminal 4)
  • Bash and / or PowerShell
  • Proficiency with Gravity Forms, Dynamic Forms or other web form technologies
  • Proficiency with IIS, Apache and Nginx
  • Java
  • Tomcat
  • XML and / or JSON
  • Webservices protocols and products
  • Mobile web development
  • Experience with SQL variations of Oracle, MS SQL or MySQL
  • ansible
