Job description

The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking qualified applicants to design a separate landing page that can be accessed from Estuario.org for the Juan Mendez Creek Restoration Project. This Service Provider will work closely with the current website contractor, providing UI services to design a landing page that will present the project and its trajectory.

The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. Established in 1994, we are the only tropical and non-continental location within the National Estuary Program (NEP) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario operates as a partnership to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. The partnership is a trusted regional science-based organization, supported by engaged stakeholders. Estuario’s work is guided by a master restoration plan known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary.

In November 2021, Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to invest in the nation’s infrastructure and resilience, with major focus on environmental justice and climate change. Estuario will use BIL funding to restore the Juan Méndez Creek, in the municipality of San Juan through high-impact blue/green infrastructure interventions, achieving medium term restoration of communities affected by this body of water, many of which are environmental justice communities.

SCOPE OF WORK

The contract will be for services to design a separate landing page that can be accessed from the current website, Estuario.org and will keep citizens informed about Estuario’s efforts addressed for the Juan Méndez Creek restoration. The Estuario uses its website to inform and involve stakeholders to ensure sustained commitment, and to conduct significant outreach and communication efforts to increase brand awareness and engagement, particularly in local communities as they continue to recover from hurricanes, the pandemic, and other events.

Gathering and making available up-to-date information on the San Juan Bay Estuary and its ecosystem is an essential element in meeting the objectives of the CCMP. The Estuario website serves as this source of data, information, and resources. According to the communication plan and outreach and engagement needs, the website is updated and improved regularly. When feasible, all program materials are made accessible or viewable at this website. The Estuario contracts website maintenance services to ensure the proper functioning of website features and capabilities, including maps, databases, resource uploading and downloading, forms, event registration, notifications, database, and Atlas is essential. The gathering and updating of information on the website serves as a valuable tool, allowing Estuario personnel and personnel from other agencies to make informed decision on management of the Estuary. In addition, it serves as an education and training tool for the public in general and for students interested in studying subjects related to the Estuary. It leads to greater knowledge of the Estuary and greater interest in protecting it. The website is currently available in English and Spanish.

The Estuario will also contract brand development services to design the project’s logo and graphics that will form part of the project’s brand. The landing page for the Juan Mendez Creek restoration project should integrate this project branding. Project results and relevant deliverables will be published on the landing page and, where appropriate, made available for free download in PDF format.

This position will work closely with Estuario’s current website contractor to integrate the landing page with the current website. The webpage should be available in English and Spanish and will offer general information about the project and its consortium of partners.
