Summary: NMSU Grants was established as a branch of New Mexico State University in 1968 through the cooperative efforts of New Mexico State University and Grants Municipal Schools. As a two-year branch community college, NMSU Grants serves the local communities in Cibola and McKinley counties, including the Pueblos of Acoma, Laguna, and Zuni, as well as Tohajiilee, San Mateo, San Rafael, Cubero, the City of Grants, and the Village of Milan.
Classification Summary:
Develops and maintains web sites for a department, college, or program. Creates content, adapts existing content to a Web-friendly format, creates and maintains the logical structure of the content. Works with a variety of departments, colleges and others as appropriate.
Classification Standard Duties:
Develops and maintains plan for organization's Internet presence, based on management priorities, policy directions, and goals. Creates enhancements and modifications to web sites; organizes and maintains the sites. Assesses new standards, technologies and trends, and formulates strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites. Programs HTML and uploads pages to the web sites.Ensures that web sites are accessible from a variety of different environments. Produces a consistent visual image on the web sites including maintenance of templates and image archives. Ensures that images are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality. Creates image links, and ensures that links are up to date; updates information on pages and databases so that content is current.Troubleshoots and repairs bugs and problems. Responds to Web Designer mail; provides and analyzes traffic statistics and reports. Develops, researches, writes/edits and creates layout for new sections/features. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education: High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience: Four (4) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency: Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, and related website technologies. Knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality, and of a wide range of internet programming and design tools. Knowledge of the Internet, ftp, telnet and the ability to develop website documents. Knowledge of html, dhtml, css, JavaScript, PHP, web page creation, and web site maintenance.; SKILLS: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Project management skills. Strategic planning skills. Proofreading and editing skills. Skill in computer graphics and layout. Skill in the use of computerized page layout and design software.; ABILITIES: Ability to effectively manage time and schedules. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to utilize computerized word processing and internet software. Ability to evaluate new and evolving website technologies. Ability to create and analyze reports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to institutional (main webpage) and area/departmental webpages with job tasks, to include, but not be limited to:
1) In consultation with key administrative offices at NMSU Grants and NMSU System IT Services, identify mandatory webpage presence and identify current employees, office locations, contact information (office phone contact and FAX) and general office function in preparation for webpage enhancements, modifications, and upgrades;
2) In consultation with key Faculty, Staff, and Associated Student Government (ASG) personnel, conduct analysis of area/department-based webpages of NMSU Grants that require enhancements, modifications, and upgrades;
3) In consultation with NMSU System Communications and IT Offices, train with regard to web presence “standard protocols” for design, layout, formatting, and operational parameters of NMSU Grants' institutional and area/departmental webpages;
4) Communicate via institutional training sessions related to maintenance of NMSU System required consistency for visual imaging on the institutional and area/departmental webpages inclusive of maintenance of templates and image archives;
5) In consultation with NMSU Grants' IT department, ensure that images/video content for institutional and area/departmental webpages are deliverable to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality;
6) As a part of needs analysis for webpage enhancements, modifications, and upgrades, as needed/required, develop web sites for NMSU Grants' and/or its various areas/departments;
7) As a part of needs analysis for webpage enhancements, modifications, and upgrades, in consultation with NMSU IT services and NMSU Grants IT department, delete webpages that serve no further purpose;
8) Enhances, modifies, and conducts webpage upgrades to assist the institution and areas/departments for the development and maintenance of internet presence;
9) In consultation with NMSU System IT services, NMSU Communications Office, and NMSU Grants' Faculty and Staff, assess new standards, technologies, and trends and in doing so, formulate and recommend strategies to NMSU Grants' key administrative personnel in support of future enhancements of webpages (institutional and area/departmental)
10) Programs HTML and uploads pages to the institutional and area/department web sites/webpages.
11) Ensures that institutional and area/department webpages are accessible from a variety of different environments;
12) Provide communication to institutional Faculty, Staff, and Students related to access to institutional and area/department webpages from off-campus to include specifications for user-device connectivity;
13) As a part of the needs analysis and targeting of institutional and area/department webpage enhancements, modifications, and upgrades, create links and ensure that links are current/up-to-date;
14) Responds in a timely manner to Faculty, Staff, and Student (NMSU ASG) webpage inquiries related to position duties/responsibilities for providing enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to institutional and area/department webpages;
