University Communications and Marketing is seeking a Web Content Editor to join our team.
As part of the web team in University Communications and Marketing, the Web Content Editor will support emerging and continued web work for the Executive Communications team including enhancing their digital presence, quality, consistency, and effectiveness of executive projects. Key areas of responsibility will include content creation, search engine optimization, and information architecture.
Your Core responsibilities will include:

  • Build and edit websites and webpages within university CMS, including choosing appropriate with a focus on the user experience, using tools to craft and improve the user journey
  • Works to assess executive web needs, provide a strategic plan for meeting those needs, and executes on the plan
  • Write and edit content, working with Communications and creative colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and visual identity
  • Ensure all Web Content adheres to CMU's brand voice and style guide, maintaining a cohesive online presence.
  • Use analytics data and SEO best practices to inform content creation and make recommendations based on analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

You should demonstrate:
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills with experience in Web Content editing.
  • Excellent command of the English language and proven ability to write engaging and concise copy.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of information architecture, UX, and accessibility best practices.
  • Basic image editing (cropping, resizing, etc.) experience.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize Google Analytics to inform Web Content decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of CMU's mission and values.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in digital marketing, communications or other relevant field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience is required in one or a combination of the following areas:
    • Content Management Systems
    • Search engine optimization experience
    • Web Writing
    • Content Strategy
    • Project Management (experience managing small to large scale projects)
