Lightspeed Systems' flagship product Filter and our equally invaluable service Digital Insight, utilizes artificial intelligence, machine learning, and client input to help us continually refine our app curation, automation, and categorization so we may support districts in providing safe, secure, and equitable education for all students. Our Content Categorization team plays a pivotal role in the foundation of both these product lines. Curating apps in our client-focused education library, while maintaining the quality and reliability of the domain database. We are looking for a Content Categorization Specialistwho exhibits a high attention to detail, is adaptive, self-starting, and is dedicated to providing children with a safe experience using the modern internet. 

ABOUT THE ROLE: The list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, as necessary. 

  • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems in the database, primarily related to categorization, updating, and consistency 
  • Works with Database Dev's & Data Science team to understand programs & reports to further develop what our client needs are 
  • Work closely with all client-facing teams to resolve client-specific needs 
  • Assist in analyzing and monitoring categorization results from the web crawlers 
  • Analyze websites for methods to categorize more accurately 
  • Assist with testing web crawler development 
  • Categorize extremely sensitive domains & videos 
  • Curate and review apps for the Lightspeed Systems App library 
  • Troubleshoot App related issues, execute fixes, and communicate changes to clients and/or internal teams 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

ABOUT YOU: The following are the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities preferred or required to perform this job. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School Diploma 
  • Experience with troubleshooting data preferred 
  • Experience with education-based applications 
  • Experience in operating systems and platforms 
  • Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc...) 
  • Windows 
  • Visual Studio Code 
  • VPN and Remote Desktop software 

SKILLS, ABILITIES, KEY BEHAVIORS: 

  • Self-starter, proactive about finding solutions and resolving tasks promptly 
  • Collaborate with team members, open-mindedness, and adaptability 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
