Our 70-year-old global Aerospace & Defense client has asked The Maven Group to locate a talented Weapon Systems Staff Level Program Manager to join a smart and small team near Santa Barbara, CA. This an amazing position on a rapidly growing team.
Our client employs over 11,000 people across the globe and provides solutions to markets such as satellites, human-rated space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, military ground vehicles, naval vessels, and security and surveillance.
This position is a direct-hire, full-time role and includes an excellent benefits package including great medical coverage starting day one, profit sharing, a true retirement plan, tuition reimbursement of up to 15k/yr and a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off. This role requires the candidate to be onsite at my clients facility with potentially a few work from home days per week. Relocation assistance can be provided.
The chosen Weapon Systems Staff Program Manager will work closely with the Business Unit Leadership to lead, develop and mentor 2-6 Program Managers. The Staff Program Manager Lead works with a team of highly skilled Program Managers supporting the efforts from the proposal phase, through design, transition to production, and fielding of our industry leading Weapon Systems. You will be lead all efforts to update and report individual program status, major events, issues, etc to senior leaders inside and outisde the organization.
To be considered a viable candidate, you should possess:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in a technical field (preferably engineering), and a minimum of ten years of program related work experience
- Must be familiar with methods, procedures and techniques used in quality and material control systems
- Must have excellent listening, collaboration, and persuasive skills to both understand, explain, and expedite when necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills are a must to handle internal and external customers in a positive manner regarding information impacting their programs
- Ability to organize and influence people, as well as an outstanding ability to communicate and facilitate with a highly collaborative and consensus driven leadership approach
- Proven knowledge and experience with formal project management, including use of project management tools
- Earned Value Management experience, preferred
- Understanding of the technology involved with Weapon Systems and military ground-mobile systems, highly preferred
- Ability to access US export-controlled information (ITAR)
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance
