Description and Qualifications
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the potable water and the wastewater systems.
JOB DUTIES

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, building structure and facilities under supervisory oversight.
• Responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the potable water and the wastewater systems. Potable water production, treatment, and distribution, as well as wastewater collection and treatment must be maintained in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
• Responsible for maintaining and submitting water and wastewater compliance records.
• Perform laboratory testing and laboratory test analysis to facilitate process control changes to assure compliance with standards, regulations and permit limits.
• Stops unsafe work and performs thorough risk assessment before every job.
• Report and correct unsafe conditions or hazards.
• Inventory materials and maintain at specified levels and reorder as necessary.
• Off-load bulk chemicals used for plant operations.
• Performs emergency response to fire suppression water needs.
• Assist in the development/review of all plant operation documentation (procedures, system descriptions, operating limits).
• Maintain proficiency as a qualified plant operator and maintain ADEC certification.
• Perform a wide variety of preventive maintenance as required within the standard operating procedures of the maintenance service guidelines.
• Secure and isolate equipment under LOTO for operations and maintenance purposes.
• Perform routine, independent tasks such as repairing water lines and leaks and secondary, minor repairs.
• Performance of occasional grounds keeping duties.
• Ability to read blue prints and controlled documents accurately and effectively.
• Monitors plant performance to permit limitations and stops operations that violate regulations.
• Willingness to work at various locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State of Alaska Water Treatment certification II or higher.
• Water Distribution Level 1 certification.
• Wastewater Collection Level 1 certification
• Current Quantitative Fit Test for respirator with annual retesting.
• Valid Alaska Driver's License, with satisfactory driving history to qualify for company insurance.
• A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

• Have Nano filtration operation and maintenance experience.
• Three (3) years of experience with Water Treatment and testing.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

• Must have a working knowledge of Federal and State laws/rules/regulations pertaining to drinking water and wastewater.
• Knowledge of relevant Water Treatment and testing equipment (e.g., HACH DR/4000 Spectrophotometer and CI 17 Chlorine Analyzer).
• Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
• Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
• Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software.
• Skills sufficient to calculate figures and amounts for water measurements and calculations.
• Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
• Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
• Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. The majority of work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke free and tobacco free campus. May require local travel between compact services of CRNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided when and where needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Received:
Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.
Supervision Exercised:
Position will not provide direct supervision.
Contacts:
Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.

• First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
• As applicable by position and company policy, must meet standards for fitness for duty, immunizations, credentialing and privileging.
