ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $26.62. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 3:30pm.
Environment – While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, or vibration. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet, but may be loud for limited durations while working with power tools, equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Regular and timely attendance is required. Employees are required to work shift work and weekends and are subject to 24-hour call out.
THE ROLE
Monitors, regulates and performs operational maintenance in potable water production, treatment, and storage and distribution equipment. And performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required and additional vocational or technical training in mechanical maintenance is preferred, and;
- Two years of progressively responsible experience performing construction and maintenance on water distribution systems.
- Equivalent: Four years of progressively responsible experience performing construction and maintenance on water distribution systems.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Must possess and maintain a State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade I at the time of application for hire, promotion, transfer, or reclassification.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
- Practical Exam - (Pass/Fail).
- Multiple Choice Test - (Passing Score 70% required to move on to oral interview).
- Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
