Gonzales County Water Supply Corporation has an immediate opening with the opportunity to serve our community as a public Water System Operator.
This position requires a TCEQ D water operator’s license (or higher) or the ability to obtain license within 6 months. The ideal candidate will have previous training and work experience in public Water System operations and maintenance. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and provide authorization for a background investigation. A high school diploma or GED, along with a valid current Texas driver’s license is also required.
Pay is dependent upon qualifications (including but not limited to relevant experience and TCEQ licensure). Minimum pay for entry-level technician with the right qualities and no license yet is $17.50/hr.

Responsibilities include all aspects of public Water System operations and maintenance, for example: the O&M of treatment, distribution and storage facilities, booster station and system troubleshooting, water line repairs, operation of mini-excavators for the installation and repair of Water System facilities, new water service installations including pipe tapping, Water System flushing, record and report keeping, inventory monitoring and recordkeeping, meter reading and maintenance, response to customer calls in a timely, professional and courteous manner, providing on-call services for response to urgent and emergency situations outside of regular business hours, performing routine and special water quality sampling, pump and motor troubleshooting and repairs, and many other duties as assigned.
